Help Your Clients Make Sound Decisions with their Retirement Plan Distributions
While qualified plans and IRAs are a great way to save for retirement, eventually distributions must be made. Retirement plan distributions are a complex and an increasingly important area for many clients—especially with the millions of Baby Boomers closing in on and thinking about their retirement. Thorough understanding and careful planning around how to take distributions, how much to take, and when to take them is critical, because failure to take out the right amount at the right time can result in significant penalties. And, failure to distribute amounts to plan beneficiaries and IRA owners can result in a plan's disqualification and/or significant penalties.
Presented by noted tax advisor, instructor and author, Robert Barnhill, J.D., CPA, CFP, M.B.A, this two-hour audio seminar on Tuesday, September 9th focuses on when distributions must begin and how much must be taken from a plan to avoid disqualification and penalties. Mr. Barnhill will provide a concise and practical review of the various retirement plan distribution options and their rules, requirements and planning opportunities, so you can help your clients decide which options are best for them. Time will be provided for you to ask your retirement distribution questions directly to Mr. Barnhill during the program.
