This two-hour live audio seminar on Tuesday, September 16th will help CPAs understand the key elements and critical issues of the AICPA Statement of Standards for Valuation Services No. 1 (SSVS1). Presented by AICPA Standard Sub-committee members Ed Dupke and Randie Dial, this presentation will provide a practical review of SSVS1 and a discussion of the tools that were designed to help practitioners understand this standard as well as implement it. Essential information will be provided for developing and reporting on an engagement to estimate the value of a business, an interest in a business, and a security or intangible asset. Dupke and Dial will offer reliable analyses, practical explanations and helpful tips for working under the new valuation engagement standards. About the Speakers:

Ed Dupke

Edward J. Dupke, CPA/ABV, is a Senior Consultant in the Valuation and Forensic Services Division of Clifton Gunderson LLP, the 13th largest CPA and consulting firm in the United States. He is based in the firm’s Phoenix, Arizona office. He holds the AICPA specialty designation of Accredited in Business Valuation (CPA/ABV). Mr. Dupke is a former chairman of the AICPA Business Valuation Committee and a past chairman of the Michigan Association of CPAs.

Ed has over 35 years of professional experience in Public Accounting and Business Valuation Practice, has been qualified as an expert witness in both State and Federal courts and is a regular instructor in Business Valuation at both the State and National level. He is a co-author of the text Financial Valuation: Applications and Models (Hitchner), John Wiley & Sons, New York, (Second Edition) 2006. He is licensed as a CPA in Michigan, Illinois, Kentucky and Arizona.

Mr. Dupke is a past member of the AICPA Board of Directors and Chair of its Strategic Planning Committee. He is a past member of the AICPA Forensic and Litigation Committee, and he currently is a member of the AICPA Joint Trial Board, the Business Valuation / Forensic and Litigation Services Executive Committee and Chairs the AICPA Task Force writing the Business Valuation Standards for CPAs.

In 1998, Mr. Dupke was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the Michigan Association of CPAs and in 1999 was inducted into the AICPA Business Valuation Hall of Fame. In 2002, he received the AICPA “Business Valuation Volunteer of the Year” award. In 2005, he received the “Special Recognition” award from both the Michigan Association of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs for his work on the AICPA Business Valuation Standards.

Randie G. Dial, CPA/ABV, ASA, is a Senior Manager in the Valuation and Forensic Services Division of Clifton Gunderson LLP, the 13th largest CPA and consulting firm in the United States. He is based in the firm’s Indianapolis, Indiana office. He holds the AICPA specialty designation of Accredited in Business Valuation (CPA/ABV) and is also an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) with the American Society of Appraisers. Mr. Dial currently serves on the AICPA’s Business Valuation Standards Subcommittee and is past president of the Indiana Chapter of the American Society of Appraisers.

Randie has over 10 years of professional experience in Business Valuation Practice. He has authored several articles for publications including the Journal of Accountancy and Valuation Strategies. He is licensed as a CPA in Indiana.
