  • Nexus, Jurisdiction and Sourcing — Avoid collecting unnecessary taxes by accurately defining nexus and applying data-driven sales tax sourcing rules, systematically determining which taxes must be collected, with advanced geocoding and spatial analysis.
  • Flexible Calculation — Increase the accuracy of your sales tax calculations with the ability to precisely calculate taxes at the line item level, use multiple ship-from and ship-to combinations in a single invoice, manage minimum and maximum tax rules, and handle complex tax calculation routines that can apply tiered taxes and fees.

The Oracle tax interface enables Sales Tax Office to perform tax calcu¬lations that support functional tax and business requirements:

  • The business events/transaction within Order Management and Accounts Receivable will initiate the Sales Tax Office tax calculation processes, performing tax calculations and returning results to the E-Business Tax (EBTax) module of Oracle, as well as recording transactions details in Sales Tax Office.
  • Sales and use tax “Place of Supply” processing logic is shifted from EBTax to Sales Tax Office, which includes flexible override features when needed sourcing information is missing from the transaction details.
  • Sales tax is estimated during the creation of quotes, sales orders, and service contracts.
  • Sales tax liabilities are calculated on customer invoices, by line item, applying tax rate reductions when applicable.
  • Customer claims for exemption (e.g. resale, not-for-profit, exempt organization) are applied during the tax calculation, which can be limited to specific products, by tax type, by tax authority, or a combination of related conditions.
