The 2012 update of Government Auditing Standards for financial audits has focused on incorporating the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ clarified Statements on Auditing Standards and on eliminating unnecessary differences between the two sets of standards. It has also identified additional requirements that go beyond the requirements of generally accepted auditing standards.
